Tusi Pese Salamo: Preface & Meaning of These Psalm Songs

All these Psalm songs were composed with one great purpose: that the Samoan people, and the world, may sing and give praise to the God of Samoa. Praise, thanksgiving, and glorification of God is the highest and most precious spirit in my heart and soul; and this is the one reason and purpose behind the composition of all these Psalm songs.

Perhaps this was also the same spirit and feeling that David had in ancient times, when he composed his psalm and said:

"My soul, bless the Lord, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. My soul, bless the Lord, and do not forget all His benefits." (Psalm 103:1-2)

Everything David had in his thoughts, his body, and his soul — in other words, everything that gave him life — he used to praise, give thanks, glorify, and dance before the Lord. This is also the same spirit and feeling within me, a humble servant, which moved and inspired me to compose these Psalm songs.

My prayer and deepest hope is that we may all share in this same spirit of praise and gratitude as we sing together these Psalm songs — to glorify and rejoice together in the Lord our God.

Let us sing together as a sign of our love for the Lord our God, and our remembrance of all His blessings in each of our lives.

May God bless each and every one of us.

Sincerely,
Ioselani Pouesi
